Enter Polygel (also known as Acrylgel)—a hybrid formula that combines the extreme strength of acrylics with the effortless, flexible manipulation of hard gels. Polygel remains completely malleable until it is deliberately cured under an LED lamp, making it the perfect tool for DIY enthusiasts. 1. Anatomy of an Extension: Understanding Apex and Stress Points
When extending the natural length of a nail, you cannot simply apply an even, flat layer of product from the base to the tip. A flat extension will snap off at the first sign of pressure, taking your natural nail with it. To build a durable extension, you must sculpt a proper Apex.
The Apex is the thickest, highest point of the sculpted nail, positioned strategically over the stress area (where the natural pink nail bed meets the white free edge of your tip). When you accidentally bump your nail against a hard surface, the mechanical force travels down the extension. If the apex has enough structural thickness, it absorbs the impact energy safely. If it is flat, the nail will split horizontally across the middle.
